Behind the Curtain: A Tribute to the Minds Behind the Southern Zone Band Competition

Introduction

The Southern Zone Level School Band Competition 2024-25 wasn’t just a showcase of musical talent; it was also a testament to exceptional planning, meticulous organization, and the dedication of esteemed individuals. This event brought together 19 teams from seven states, featuring both brass and pipe bands, and was executed with precision and passion.

At the heart of its success were the judges, officials, and organizers, whose efforts ensured a fair, enriching, and memorable experience for all participants and attendees.

The Esteemed Panel of Judges

The judging panel comprised individuals with rich expertise and distinguished careers:

  • Mr. Shri Arokya Swamy: A retired Band Master from the Government English Band, Mysore, Mr. Swamy brought a lifetime of experience in band music. Starting his journey with the Mysore Palace Band in 1975, his career spanned decades of dedication, culminating in prestigious honors like the Chief Minister’s Medal Award. His presence was a testament to the rich tradition of band music in India.
  • Shri Prakasha P.B.: The Deputy Superintendent of Police (DYSP) from the District Armed Reserve, Davangere, brought a unique perspective with his background in law enforcement. His disciplined approach and attention to detail enriched the evaluation process, ensuring every performance was judged meticulously.
  • Shri Surendra Singh: A Naik Subedar with over 26 years of service in the Indian Army, Mr. Singh added a military touch to the jury’s deliberations. His insights into discipline and teamwork perfectly aligned with the competition’s values, raising the standards for all participants.

Exemplary Leadership and Organization

The success of this event owed much to the visionary leadership of Shri. Manjunatha Rangaraju, Dean of PSSEMR, BHPEMS, and Dr. SSNP Schools under the Bapuji Education Association. His commitment to fostering cultural exchange and musical excellence created an event that set a high benchmark for future competitions.

From the ceremonial welcome to the thoughtfully designed Experience Zone, every detail reflected the professionalism and hospitality of the organizing team. The comfortable accommodations, engaging activities, and seamless scheduling were widely appreciated by dignitaries and participants alike.

The Backbone of the Event: Officials and Coordinators

The smooth execution of the event was made possible by a dedicated team of officials:

  • Shri Shadakashradeva D R: As the Event Coordinator, he ensured flawless communication and coordination, enabling the day’s activities to run seamlessly.
  • Shri Venkatesh: Serving as the Timekeeper, he maintained strict adherence to the schedule, allowing performances to proceed without delays.
  • The PE Department: Responsible for overall arrangements, their organizational expertise ensured a well-ordered and enjoyable event for all.
